MOSCOW, June 1. /TASS/. A passenger train derailed as a result of a bridge collapse in the Vygonichsky District of the Bryansk Region. Seven people were killed and 33 were injured.
TASS has assembled the main facts about the incident.
Circumstances of the emergency
- Information about the collapse of the road bridge structure was received at 10:50 p.m. Moscow time on May 31, the Western Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of Russia’s Investigative Committee reported.
- The collapse occurred as a result of interference with the operation of transport, the press service of the Moscow Railway clarified.
- Passenger train No. 86 Klimov - Moscow derailed on the single-track Pilshino - Vygonichi section.
- An operational headquarters was established at the Situation Center of the Transport Ministry of to coordinate actions with Russian Railways and the Emergency Situations Ministry.
- Recovery trains were sent to the scene.
Dead and injured
- As a result of the accident, seven people died and 66 were injured.
- According to the Governor of the Bryansk Region Alexander Bogomaz, 44 people were hospitalized, 22 are being examined as outpatients.
- Three victims, including a child, are in serious condition.
- The injured child will be transported to Moscow by air ambulance.
Consequences
- The Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation.
- Investigators are working on the scene.
- A reserve train Bryansk - Moscow has been sent for passengers, its arrival at the Kiesvky railway station in Moscow is expected at 10:40 a.m. Moscow time.
- About 180 people and 60 units of equipment have been involved in eliminating the consequences of the accident.
