Russia sends note to UN head over West’s treatment of Russian journalists

Attached to the letter is a list of documented cases of various forms of ill treatment of Russian journalists abroad since 2022

UNITED NATIONS, May 20. /TASS/. The Russian Permanent Mission to the United Nations has sent a note to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to draw his attention to ill treatment of Russian journalists in the West.

"I wish to once again bring to your attention the pressing matter concerning freedom of expression and the treatment of Russian journalists in Western nations," reads the document, published by the Russian mission on the X social network. "I implore you to carefully review this compelling evidence and offer a knowledgeable evaluation of the progressively worsening situation concerning the preservation of information accessibility and media diversity. It is utterly unacceptable for alternative viewpoints to be censored, while dissent is stifled through administrative actions and a repressive governmental apparatus."

Attached to the letter is a list of documented cases of various forms of ill treatment of Russian journalists abroad since 2022.

A similar document was sent to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
