DUBAI, May 21. /TASS/. Russia has the potential to supply Iran with cutting-edge weapons, including advanced aviation and naval technologies, according to Hamid Rasai, a member of Iran’s parliament.
"Both nations share common threats from NATO and terrorism," Rasai stated. "Russia can provide Iran with fighter jets, sophisticated aviation systems, and naval armaments. Additionally, the two countries can engage in joint military exercises and collaborate on defense technology development."
He emphasized the strategic importance of the alliance, saying, "The Iran-Russia partnership is crucial geopolitically, security-wise, economically, and diplomatically. Amidst ongoing sanctions, we must capitalize on this opportunity. Our alliance can help reduce reliance on the U.S. dollar."
On January 17, President Vladimir Putin of Russia and his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi signed the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty during talks in the Kremlin. The agreement was subsequently ratified - Russia’s parliament approved it on April 21, and Iran’s parliament followed suit on May 21.
