Investigative Committee completes probes into 430 cases of Ukrainian soldiers, mercenaries

IC Chief Alexander Bastrykin disclosed that more than 3,300 mercenaries from over 70 countries have participated in the armed conflict on Ukraine’s side

ST. PETERSBURG, May 19. /TASS/. Russia’s Investigative Committee has concluded its investigation into over 430 criminal cases involving Ukrainian military personnel and mercenaries.

According to IC Chief Alexander Bastrykin, "The investigation of 432 criminal cases has been completed, resulting in 408 verdicts against 547 Ukrainian servicemen and mercenaries." Those convicted have received sentences ranging from 8.5 years to life imprisonment. Bastrykin made these remarks at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.

He further disclosed that more than 3,300 mercenaries from over 70 countries have participated in the armed conflict on Ukraine’s side. Of these, 902 individuals have been formally indicted, 694 are on the international wanted list, and 267 defendants have been remanded in absentia.
